Former Magnolia Elementary School Teacher Arrested on Felony Misconduct Charge Involving Students

MAGNOLIA, Texas — A former second-grade teacher at Magnolia Parkway Elementary School was arrested Thursday following an investigation into allegations of inappropriate physical contact with students, law enforcement authorities announced.

The Montgomery County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office identified the suspect as 40-year-old Jason Tomas Maldonado. Maldonado was taken into custody on an arrest warrant for attempted improper relationship between an educator and a student, a third-degree felony in Texas, and is currently being held on a $150,000 bond.

The criminal investigation began in December 2025 after the constable’s office received a report from Child Protective Services regarding unprofessional behavior. According to school district officials, Maldonado was placed on administrative leave on December 15, 2025, and subsequently resigned from his position.

Over the course of the multi-month probe, investigators conducted multiple forensic interviews with students, met with witnesses and school personnel, and contacted families associated with the classroom. Several students disclosed details of inappropriate physical contact that allegedly occurred during the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 school years, including prolonged hugging, sitting on the teacher’s lap, and touching that occurred underneath or inside their clothing.

Maldonado was apprehended after meeting with investigators at the Child Protective Services office on May 21. Precinct 5 Constable Chris Jones stated that his office is continuing to work directly alongside the Magnolia Independent School District to identify any additional witnesses or victims.

Due to the ages of the children involved, authorities are withholding further identifying details about the students. Law enforcement officials urge any parents or guardians who believe their child may have relevant information to contact the Montgomery County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office at 281-259-6493.
