Former Isidore Newman School Teacher Indicted on Multiple Child Abuse Material Charges in Louisiana

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana — A grand jury indicted a former teacher from the Isidore Newman School this week following an ongoing investigation into the possession and creation of illicit content involving minors.

Benoit Cransac was indicted on Wednesday on a total of 102 criminal counts. The charges include five counts of child sexual abuse material involving victims under the age of 13, 20 counts of child sexual abuse material involving victims under the age of 17, 17 counts of video voyeurism of a child under the age of 17, and 60 counts of unlawful deepfakes of minors.

The defendant was initially arrested in January by agents with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, an agency operating under Attorney General Liz Murrill. Law enforcement personnel took Cransac into custody directly on the campus of the Isidore Newman School. A French national holding legal residency in the United States, Cransac has remained incarcerated since his initial arrest and is currently being held without bond at the Orleans Justice Center. An official date for his arraignment has not yet been scheduled.

According to court records, the criminal investigation was initiated in August 2025 after state agents received an investigative tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Legal documents reveal that Google flagged 12 digital files associated with Cransac online. The materials, which consisted of inappropriate photographs of young girls, were dated from March 2025. Google transmitted the user account details linked to the files, which directly matched the email address used by Cransac.

Law enforcement investigators successfully traced the internet protocol addresses utilized to access the files back to a Cox Communications account registered under the name of Cransac’s wife.

Furthermore, court filings indicate that investigators discovered self-portrait photographs within the Google account. Authorities cross-referenced these images with Cransac’s French passport and his marriage license to formally verify his identity. A deeper forensic examination of the digital account uncovered an additional 14 images and one video that were not part of the initial reporting tip.
