Arlington Police Officer Derrick Dean Arrested and Charged with On Duty Sexual Assault and Official Oppression

ARLINGTON, Texas — An Arlington Police Department officer was taken into custody on Friday, May 8, 2026, and faces criminal charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman while he was working in an official capacity. Derrick Dean, 36, has been charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of official oppression following an investigation by the municipal police department.

The criminal investigation began after an incident that originated on April 11, 2026, when Dean initially responded to a standard call for service involving a female resident. According to investigators from the Arlington Police Department, the officer subsequently returned to the woman’s home on three separate occasions between April 17, 2026, and April 18, 2026. Authorities confirmed that Dean was on-duty during all three of the subsequent visits, none of which were generated by a call for police assistance or official dispatch.

Department officials revealed that the inappropriate sexual contact occurred during one of these unauthorized visits to the residence. Internal records indicate that Dean intentionally covered his department-issued body-worn camera during all three of the return visits to the home.

Following an initial review of the allegations, the police department placed Dean on administrative leave on April 21, 2026, while detectives continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the encounters. Personnel records show that the officer had been employed as a member of the Arlington Police Department for approximately a decade, having joined the force in 2016.

The Arlington Police Department served as the sole source of the information regarding the investigation, the administrative actions, and the subsequent arrest of the officer. Dean remains in custody following the formal filing of the felony and misdemeanor charges.
