TOLEDO, Ohio — A Toledo Fire & Rescue firefighter is facing criminal charges after being accused of stealing money from an internal department account, authorities reported.
Deandre Ware Jr., 38, has been charged with theft and telecommunications fraud following an investigation into his alleged financial activities.
According to court documents, Ware is accused of utilizing an in-house account belonging to Fire Station #4 for personal expenditures. Investigators allege that he completed a series of unauthorized withdrawals and transactions over a six-month period. The total amount taken from the fire station account reportedly exceeds $1,000.
Ware made his initial court appearance in connection with the charges on May 19, 2026. Following the hearing, he was released from custody without being required to post bail.
The case remains active within the local judicial system, and a preliminary hearing for Ware has been officially scheduled to take place on June 9, 2026.
