ALDIE, Virginia — A teenage substitute teacher in Loudoun County, Virginia, was taken into police custody following an investigation into allegations that they posted threats of bodily injury targeting a local high school online.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office announced the apprehension of Hadyn Dollery, a 19-year-old resident of Chantilly, Virginia. Law enforcement officers took Dollery into custody off school grounds without incident on April 20. Dollery has been formally charged with threats of bodily injury and is currently held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
The investigation was initiated after the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip through the Safe2Talk mobile application. According to investigators, the report specified that Dollery had utilized an online platform to publish statements threatening physical violence against John Champe High School, which is located in Aldie, Virginia.
An official spokesperson for Loudoun County Public Schools confirmed that Dollery served as a non-licensed substitute teacher during the 2025-2026 academic school year. Following the arrest, school district administrators removed Dollery from the system, noting that the individual is no longer listed on the district’s roster of available substitute teachers.
School officials detailed that non-licensed substitute teachers employed within the district must be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or an equivalent credential approved by the Virginia Department of Education. The district issued a formal statement emphasizing that Loudoun County Public Schools takes all potential safety threats seriously, citing the security and safety of all visitors, staff, and students as their highest priority.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
