Wisconsin Teacher Faces Child Sexual Assault Charges After Student Shows Police Video on Phone

MENASHA, Wisconsin — A teacher at a private school in Grand Chute, Wisconsin, is facing multiple criminal charges, including child sexual assault, after a 14-year-old male student showed police a video of her removing her clothing during a May 16 investigation.

Keisha Stuart, 31, of Menasha, was a teacher at Fundamentals School in Grand Chute at the time of her arrest. She was booked into the Winnebago County Jail on May 16 and made her initial court appearance in Winnebago County court the following week.

A judge set bail at $40,000 after hearing testimony from the victim.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by Action 2 News, the school first contacted police after discovering a letter Stuart had written to the student, which school officials described as unusual. In the letter, Stuart expressed affection for the student, called him her favorite, and instructed him not to share that information with anyone.

When officers interviewed the student on May 16, he produced a phone that Stuart had given him, which contained a video of her undressing. The student also told police he had visited Stuart’s apartment on approximately four occasions while he was a runaway. He said she walked around in her underwear and made sexual advances toward him.

Stuart refused to speak with officers either inside her apartment or in the hallway outside on the day of her arrest.

She now faces three charges: second-degree sexual assault of a child, exposing a child to harmful material, and sexual misconduct by school staff. The sexual assault charge carries a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison. Each of the remaining two charges carries a maximum of 3½ years.

As conditions of her bond, Stuart is prohibited from contacting the student or visiting his home. She is also barred from contact with minors other than her own children, may have only supervised contact with minor family members, and cannot hold any employment involving children.

Stuart is scheduled to return to Winnebago County court for further proceedings on Thursday, June 4.
