GULFPORT, Mississippi – A former Keesler Federal Credit Union employee is facing a four-count embezzlement indictment following accusations that she used her position to steal thousands of dollars from credit union member accounts.
Carnesha Renee Broomfield, 35, of Gulfport, has been booked into the Harrison County Jail. She is being held on a total bond of $65,000.
A grand jury indicted Broomfield in January, and she subsequently waived her formal arraignment on the charges on Wednesday. An October trial date has been established for the case.
According to official charging documents, the alleged financial crimes took place over a two-month period between October 2024 and November 2024. Broomfield is accused of accessing individual member accounts through her employment to siphon funds.
Three counts of the indictment accuse Broomfield of embezzling an amount greater than $1,000 but less than $5,000 from three separate accounts. A fourth count alleges that she took more than $5,000 but less than $25,000 from an additional account.
If she is convicted of the charges, Broomfield faces a maximum penalty of up to 25 years in prison, substantial financial fines, or a combination of both penalties.
