TOWSON, Maryland — A 26-year-old career firefighter has been arrested following an investigation into a sexual assault involving volunteer firefighters, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.
Xavier Dove was taken into custody over the holiday weekend after arrest warrants were issued against him. Police announced the arrest on Saturday, May 22.
The investigation began on Tuesday, May 5, at approximately 9:30 a.m., when Baltimore County police officers responded to the 10000 block of Liberty Road regarding an assault that had occurred several days prior. Investigators determined that both the victim and the suspect served as volunteer firefighters with the Liberty Road Volunteer Fire Company in Baltimore County.
On Tuesday, Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services Chief Louis Winston released a statement confirming the department had been notified of Dove’s arrest. Winston stated that Dove is a career firefighter for Howard County and has been employed by the department since 2022.
According to Winston, Dove was off duty from his career position at the time of the alleged incident. The Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services has placed Dove on leave while the investigation continues.
