LAREDO, Texas — A municipal worker in Laredo was taken into custody on Wednesday following an investigation that led to multiple child pornography charges, local law enforcement officials confirmed.
The Laredo Police Department Narcotics and Vice Unit initiated the probe after allegedly discovering the illicit material during an active, separate case. The investigation was subsequently transferred to the Laredo Police Department Special Victims Unit, which finalized the inquiry.
After reviewing the findings, investigators presented the evidence to prosecutors. This resulted in the issuance of arrest warrants for Orozco Chavez, who faces five counts of possession of child pornography. Police stated that each of the charges is classified as a second-degree felony.
According to county jail records, Orozco Chavez was booked into the Webb County Jail. He remained in custody as of Thursday afternoon, with total bonds established at $375,000.
Authorities confirmed that Orozco Chavez was employed by the City of Laredo. However, officials have not disclosed the specific municipal department where he worked.
